A New Family Addition

Meet Adrian Michael Ehrich, born at 3:30 pm on Canada's first ever Family Day - how cool is that? I don't think anyone could have prepared me for the wonderful experience that bringing a new life into this world has been. And from what I can tell, Julie feels exactly the same. It's an amazing process, and even though I understand most of the science behind the magic, it's still quite incredible that it actually works! What's equally amazing is the amount of strength and dedication Julie had through the entire process - never once wavering from her determination to do only what's best for baby!

It's only day 6 and and already our lives have been turned entirely upside down. Everything we do now revolves around eating, feeding, sleeping and changing diapers... and the occasional shower when we can fit one in. But not surprisingly, we're quite happy doing just that and wouldn't change a thing. I'll try to post an occasional update, but I wouldn't hold my breath ;)

The Ehrich Family Website

So I've finally settled on using Google's Blogger and Picasa Web Albums for sending family related stuff into this worldnet-interweb-thingy. The free edition of Community Server looks great, works well and does almost everything I need, however, I decided that I did not want the responsibility of maintaining yet another web application. Also, since I am trying to encourage Julie to start doing some of this stuff herself, the integration of Picasa2 (which we currently use to import and organize our digital photos) with Picasa Web Albums is a significant bonus. If only the tagging/labeling was a little more robust. Maybe v3 will be released soon...

The End of the Road?

Autocross season has come to and end once more (at least for me) and this time it's up in the air as to whether there will be any more in my future. The Competition Corvette Club doesn't have the Bronte GO Station parking lot again next year, and currently there are no plans for a replacement. Although I missed numerous events this year, I hope the guys can figure something out - I'm just a weekend warrior (yes, that's me in the GTI), but I would really miss it if it were gone. Besides, I have a lot left to learn, and at least one more season of rubber left to scrape off of those RE01-Rs! :)

Cedarow Puppy Reunion

Last weekend we attended the Cedarow Puppy Reunion at Marion Homer's place in Moonstone, Ontario. We got to spend some time with some of the other puppies from Abby's litter as well as their owners. The dogs have all turned out fabulously, and it was great to see them play together - you could really tell that they had a connection with each other that they don't share with other dogs. They actually look so similar that for the first half hour or so we were convinced we would end up taking the wrong one home!

You can see some of the photos here, although many didn't turn out as well as we had hoped - I didn't realize until we got home that I had made the amateurish mistake of leaving the camera on the wrong setting! I guess that will teach me to use the zoom feature next time to double check the quality intermittently.
